State Legislators: Over $4 Million Awarded in State Grants for Infrastructure, Public Safety Projects

HARRISBURG – Sens. Lisa Baker (R-20) and Rosemary Brown (R-40) and Reps. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) and Jeff Olsommer (R-Wayne/Pike) announced today that over $4.2 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants will be coming to Pike, Susquehanna and Wayne counties.

LSA grants are funded through gaming revenues under Act 71 of 2004 and are used to support economic development, community improvement and public interest projects.

“These investments will provide our local municipalities and community organizations with the resources they need to complete important infrastructure projects, improve public safety, acquire essential equipment, and better serve residents throughout our region,” the legislators said. “We are grateful to have worked together to secure this funding and bring state dollars back to our area where they can make a meaningful difference to the people we represent.”

The approved projects include:

Pike County
• Blooming Grove Township – $197,000 for water and sewer improvements at the Blooming Grove Complex.
• Delaware Township, on behalf of American Legion Post 851 – $26,785 for HVAC upgrades.
• Middle Smithfield Township, on behalf of Bushkill Fire Company – $200,000 to rehabilitate the firehouse.
• Milford Township – $63,288 to improve stormwater management at the Pike County Municipal Building and community garden.
• Westfall Township, on behalf of the Eastern Pike Regional Police Department – 207,489 to purchase new portable radios.
 
Susquehanna County
• Choconut Township – $148,538 to purchase a new backhoe loader.
• Forest Lake Township – $145,991to purchase an excavator.
• Great Bend Borough – $89,965 to purchase a skid steer.
• Liberty Township – $177,819 to purchase a vibratory compaction roller.
• Montrose Borough – $394,890 for parking lot paving and striping.
• Susquehanna Depot Borough – $87,664 to purchase a dump truck with attachments.

Wayne County
• Canaan Township – $585,000 to rehabilitate the Salvation Army's Camp Ladore.
• Cherry Ridge Township – $101,208 to purchase a wheel loader and plow.
• Cherry Ridge Township, on behalf of Wayne County YMCA and the Central Wayne Regional Authority – $250,000 to expand a sewer line.
• Damascus Township – $288,405 to replace an inadequate ADA-accessible portable toilet at Damascus Township Park with a permanent, ADA-compliant restroom.
• Dreher Township – $385,825 for Phase 2 of the Green Dreher Volunteer Fire Association building improvement.
• Hawley Borough – $225,000 to repair and repave Atkinson Street and Welwood Avenue.
• Honesdale Borough – $97,420 to purchase ADA-accessible playground equipment.
• Honesdale Borough – $32,015 to purchase and upfit an Emergency Management trailer.
• Honesdale Borough – $33,300 to perform a GIS study.
• Lebanon Township – $107,788 to purchase and upfit a vehicle for snowplowing.
• Lehigh Township – $202,000 to improve pedestrian traffic safety and stormwater drainage.
• Oregon Township – $109,073 to purchase municipal equipment.
• Paupack Township – $91,368 to purchase an excavator.
• Salem Township – $250,000 funds to purchase and upfit a new ambulance.
